Some great news from Huq Industries last week when they revealed non-essential retail in Portsmouth was among the busiest in the south east of England after non-essential retail reopened on April 12th.
Based on the in-store visits measure, which is the most direct reflection of trade, Portsmouth experienced an impressive 102 per cent surge over the week of April 12, with the south east average at 60.3 per cent.
Tristan Samuels, director of regeneration at Portsmouth City Council said:
“It’s great to see that Portsmouth residents have been out supporting businesses in our high streets safely and responsibly. When many shops reopened we saw an amazing rise in footfall in the city centre of over 100 per cent, with 27,350 heading to Commercial Road on Monday 12 April. We’d urge people to keep doing what they’re doing, supporting local businesses, using our high streets and being kind and considerate to each other.”
