Portsmouth’s André’s Food Bar won two headline categories at the Sandwich & Food To Go Industry Awards (The Sammies) ceremony at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London; ‘Best UK Independent Retailer’ and ‘Best Regional Marketing’. Both awards were presented by celebrity chef and Michelin star winner, Theo Randall.
The Sandwich & Food To Go Industry Awards featured leading retailers including Marks & Spencer, Co-op, Subway, Greggs, Pret a Manger and Lidl, many of whom Andre’s Food Bar also had to present against in the ‘Best Marketing’ category.
These accolades were won hot on the heels of also being awarded The Portsmouth News 2022 Business Excellence ‘Retail & Leisure Business of the Year’ award on Friday 29th April 2022 at Portsmouth Guildhall.
André’s Food Bar is Portsmouth and Southsea’s oldest independent sandwich company and has been successfully feeding the city as a family business since 1988.
Started by André’s parents they quickly gained fame as the place to go for freshly baked filled baguettes and croissants. Nowadays, the company is run by André Guedeney and his cousin, Antony Aguado-Navarro who took over in 2015. They gave it a brand new name, a modern, trendy look and a far more extensive menu. As the next generation they are now garnering national recognition and are looking at exciting growth opportunities.
