Portsmouth is the top choice for growing paper and printing businesses.

June 1, 2023

Graphics supply company G3S Group Limited, has relocated its head office and nine of its businesses from across the UK to Portsmouth.

The company has moved into its new manufacturing and office premises on North Harbour Road in Paulsgrove, bringing new employment and supply chain opportunities to the city.

The site is owned by Portsmouth City Council and the lease will generate additional income for the council to help support local services. The 15-year lease was supported by property consultancy Vail Williams and the transaction represents of the largest workspace deals in the Solent region this year.

Councillor Hugh Mason, Cabinet Member for Planning and City Development at Portsmouth City Council, said: “I’m delighted to welcome G3S Group to Portsmouth and pleased that this council-owned property can offer a site for a business in its time of growth and help create employment opportunities for local people, while supporting essential community services.”

Founded as a small family company in 1981, G3S Group Limited, which produces recyclable, re-pulpable paper and laminating printable format products, has gone from strength-to-strength and is currently recruiting to a range of roles.

Tom Powell, Chief Executive Officer at G3S, said: “Our new offices in North Harbour have provided us with the space and infrastructure we require to sustain our continued growth for all our group companies. It was important for us to find a building that could house the whole group, offer good road links for our import and export markets, and be situated in a thriving employee pool for our continued expansion.

“Since settling in, we have been actively looking to employ a further 10 members of staff across the group and are pleased to have filled three warehouse positions by using the Portsmouth City Council back to work programme.”

The Restart scheme is a back to work programme designed to provide extra support those who have been out of work and are receiving universal credit or income-based job seekers allowance. G3S continues to offer employment opportunities with current vacancies including roles in business development and the warehouse.

Oliver Hockley, a surveyor working out of Vail Williams’ nearby office at Lakeside North Harbour business campus, said: “Based on square footage, this transaction represents one of the largest workspace deals in the Solent region, which is home to 42,000 businesses, this year. The two-storey, detached property is strategically located for the nearby M27, the ports of Portsmouth and Southampton and public transport such as Cosham mainline railway station, with Lakeside North Harbour opposite, with its retail facilities, and Village Hotel which includes a gym and pool.”

“It’s very much a warm welcome to G3s Group Ltd, which outgrew a unit at Oak Park Industrial Estate, just up the road from the company’s new UK headquarters.”
