The Portsmouth Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) is Portsmouth City Council’s ambitious roadmap to transform bus travel across the city, aligned with the government’s National Bus Strategy.
With a £53 million grant from the Department for Transport, the Portsmouth BSIP aims to transform the bus network in the city so that it is faster, more reliable, more inclusive, and more affordable. The programme is managed by an enhanced partnership between Portsmouth City Council and local bus companies Stagecoach South and First Solent.
The Portsmouth BSIP has already funded early morning travel and late-night services, tap on tap off technology, improvements to bus lanes and bus stops in the city, and much more, with more exciting developments planned.
