Site details:

The stunning Fred Francis Close affordable housing development was opened by three generations of the inventor of Scalextric.

Fred employed thousands of local people in the factory he opened in 1961 just 300 metres from this Portsmouth City Council owned site in Havant.

The spacious, attractive affordable housing scheme the council built on the long vacant site includes a large, fully equipped public play area and housing facilities built for people with specific physical disabilities.

At the opening ceremony Fred’s daughter Catherine Francis-Botting said: “These beautiful homes help keep dad’s memory alive.”
