The Parenting Network, a cornerstone charity situated in the heart of Portsmouth at Fratton Bridge Centre, plays a critical role in empowering families throughout their parenting journey. Through a diverse range of initiatives, like Dadzclub, Young Mums’ Club and Portsmouth Baby Bank they provide a vital support system for parents, ensuring no one feels isolated or alone.
Over the past year, they have delivered a staggering 712 support sessions, engaged with over 11,430 community members, and provided a lifeline with 5,369 meals for children. The 23% rise in referrals to the Baby Bank further emphasizes the growing need for their essential support.
To maintain their vital services and expand their reach, they require consistent financial support. This is where Portsmouth’s business community can step in and make a transformative difference.
The Network offers a multitude of safe spaces where parents can connect and share experiences. Dadzclub fosters a sense of community for fathers, while Young Mums’ Club provides a haven for young mothers navigating the challenges of parenthood. Bump & Baby groups offer a warm welcome to expectant parents, allowing them to connect with others embarking on the same exciting journey.
Their dedicated Portsmouth Baby Bank addresses a critical need in the community. Donating essential supplies like nappies, cots, toiletries, and clothing, this program ensures no child goes without basic necessities. The staggering statistic of 1,816 children supported in the past year alone highlights the prevalence of child poverty and underscores the importance of the Baby Bank’s services.
The Network actively advocates for the well-being of fathers. Their Dadzclub initiative hosted an inspiring event on International Men’s Day, recognizing over 50 local heroes for their positive impact on the community. The Forge, a brand-new venue in Fratton Bridge Centre acquired by The Network, provided a fitting space for this empowering celebration. Award categories like “Mental Health and Wellbeing” and “Overcoming Adversity” highlighted the importance of supporting men’s mental well-being and resilience.
Despite their incredible work, The Parenting Network faces a significant funding challenge. To maintain their vital services and expand their reach, they require consistent financial support. Partnering with The Network presents a unique opportunity for businesses to contribute to the well-being of local families and enhance their corporate social responsibility profile.
Together, through community support and strategic partnerships, the Parenting Network can ensure that all families in Portsmouth have the resources and support they need to thrive.
